IT security is important for all employees to be aware that what occurs on one PC in a computer network, can affect the security of the entire network. This means the actions we take as individuals can directly impact patient information confidentiality. Please read and follow the guidelines below. These guidelines are not comprehensive and you can refer to our HIPAA policies for more information.

Please keep in mind that, Nor-Lea Hospital district may monitor content on  the internet. Policy violations may result in discipline up to and including termination of employment.

Web Security:

  • Only use the Web Browser for work appropriate websites.

  • Only download approved software.

  • Use strong passwords, protect them from others, and change them regularly.

  • Lock your computer when you walk away from it.

  • Badge out or

  • Flag + L

  • Check the URL - avoid unsecure or imposter sites.

 Email Security:

  • Do not use your work email address for personal business.

  • Treat all hyperlinks and attachments with suspicion.

  • Avoid use of personal email sites such as Outlook, Yahoo, or Gmail.

  • Keep an eye out for phishing emails.

When to contact IT:

  • You accidentally clicked on something you should not have.

  • Your computer is running slow.

  • Unexpected changes are being made to files or drives.

  • Something seems strange.

How to report a Phishing Email:

  • Do not forward the email.

  • Snip a picture of the email.

  • Email IT_group@nlgh.org

  • Delete the phishy email or

  • Put in IT ticket.
