Our unique program offers a rural healthcare approach in a flourishing community. Nor-Lea Hospital District is home to the newest Family Medicine Residency in New Mexico and offers learning opportunities in over three communities and seven clinical locations. Residents complete core training in Lea County, a booming rural environment with additional training in Lubbock, Texas, our west Texas neighbor. We offer an impressive simulation center, block learning schedules and a highly skilled faculty. Residents are encouraged to pursue clinical and academic opportunities that support their interests, in a supportive atmosphere.

Our Mission & Vision

The Nor-Lea Family Medicine Residency Program’s mission is to foster the growth and development of proficient and well-rounded physicians who will ultimately be well-equipped to independently practice family medicine in any setting or location in which they choose upon graduation. In alignment with the Sponsoring Institution’s mission, the program is dedicated to providing high-quality and safe patient-centered care, especially to vulnerable populations residing in underserved areas. Throughout the training program, residents will receive comprehensive direct patient care experiences in both inpatient and outpatient settings, focused on delivering primary care to the surrounding rural community. The Nor-Lea Family Medicine Residency Program will also engage residents in scholarly pursuits, inclusive of academically-driven exchanges, to encourage and promote lifelong learning as they continue in their medical careers.
